Handles 4" long
These knives are inspired by Scandinavian tradition as shown in the classic book, Swedish Carving Techniques. The handle is symmetrical for comfort in many different grips and the bevel is flat.
You can carve a spoon with any of these knives but if you are new to carving I recommend the 3 1/4" knife. It is a good compromise. Larger blades are better for taking off a lot of wood fast and also for taking long, even slicing cuts but they are less maneuverable in tight spots and the tip can be more of a hazard if you are not used to it. The smaller blades are better for detail work and can carve a smaller radius without chattering, like if you want to make a curve where the spoon bowl meets the handle.
